Andy McKee’s Musicarium 2019

This is an example page. It’s different from a blog post because it will stay in one place and will show up in your site navigation (in most themes). Most people start with an About page that introduces them to potential site visitors. It might say something like this:

Hi there! I’m a bike messenger by day, aspiring actor by night, and this is my website. I live in Los Angeles, have a great dog named Jack, and I like piña coladas. (And gettin’ caught in the rain.)

…or something like this:

The XYZ Doohickey Company was founded in 1971, and has been providing quality doohickeys to the public ever since. Located in Gotham City, XYZ employs over 2,000 people and does all kinds of awesome things for the Gotham community.

An Invitation from Andy McKee

I wanted to invite everyone to join me at Andy McKee’s Musicarium 2019, taking place July 31 through August 4 at the EarthRise Institute in Petaluma, CA. As always, my guitar camp is for players of all ages, skill levels, and interests. Together, we’ll take part in an array of workshops, mentor sessions, and other activities all designed to make you a better player and to hopefully inspire you as well. There are also plenty of fun and intimate performances from myself and the other guitar instructors.

I think this year will be very special, because we’re stepping up our game. We’ll have more instructors than any other of my camps who’s origins and styles really span the globe. There will be five teachers this year including myself, and we’ll all be available for students to learn from. We’ve got the amazing Mike Dawes coming over from the UK. Jon has been a personal influence of mine. One of my good friends and amazing teachers – Calum Graham from Toronto will be there, and another amazing friend and player Trevor Gordon Hall will be there. Trevor will be bringing his Kalimbatar from Pennsylvania. It’s a really broad variety, so there will be a lot to learn at this year’s camp.

One component that sets our approach towards making music on the guitar apart is that we’re always looking to try new things. We use a lot of different techniques from alternative tunings, tapping on the fret board, and playing with unusual harmonics. There’s no set-in-stone tradition. We take in all kinds of techniques and tunings with any possible nuance to make music more varied. We all do whatever it takes to find your own sound and song.

I’m very happy to be hosting Musicarium at the EarthRise Institute again. It’s a really unusual and special place up in the hills near Petaluma. Last year, we went for a night hike to look at the stars. There’s no light pollution, you can see them all. There’s also a meditative labyrinth made of river stones that we walked through. We do a lot more than just guitar stuff. We all hang out, have fun, and build a community of fellowship that goes beyond just camps. It’s such a creative environment, and it’s very inspiring.

I also really want to mention the food at the EarthRise Institute is unbelievable! Everything organic and incredibly fresh. I was really knocked out by the food there, so I’m definitely looking forward to coming back for another helping.

Personally, I look forward to Musicarium every year just for the sheer fun of it. There are some students that have attended every camp. I love seeing them and catching up on their progress, but I also enjoy meeting new students with similar desires and passion that we all have. One thing hosting Musicarium has taught me is that there’s always more to learn – about music, about ways of being creative, about finding your own song. Nobody knows everything. So no matter what skill level you are, whether you’re just getting started or you’ve been playing guitar for a while, everybody walks away with something new.

I really love hosting these camps, and I really hope you’re be at Andy McKee’s Musicarium this year.

Participants of all ages, levels, interests, and tastes welcome!

Andy McKee's Musicarium is an event for players and music-lovers of all ages, levels, interests, and taste!
