An Invitation from Tommy Emmanuel

Hello Thrill Seekers! Tommy Emmanuel and Dreamcatcher Events have announced Tommy Emmanuel’s Guitar Getaway Iceland, set for April 13-16, 2023 in Reykjavik, Iceland.

“I am so thrilled to be returning to Iceland and having you all join me for four days of playing and performing,” says Tommy Emmanuel. “As I look at the list of heavy hitters in the music world joining me, I am so humbled that they have agreed to come to Iceland to pass on their knowledge and experience. This really is a once in a lifetime event! Bring on 2023!”

Emmanuel’s special guests for Iceland Getaway will include such masters of the stringed instrument as Martin Taylor, Jerry Douglas, Joscho Stephan, Mike Dawes, and Iceland’s own Björn Thoroddsen. Tommy will headline a major concert at Reykjavik’s renowned Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre, while also teaming each night with his fellow artists for exclusive private performances. Iceland Getaway guests will also have a chance to show off what they’ve learned each day with nightly open mic sessions.

Your guide will share historical insights and tell you about some of the iconic buildings you’ll pass by. During the tour, you’ll visit one of Reykjavik’s newest and best rated attractions: Fly Over Iceland. This amazing experience suspends you, feet dangling, before a 65-feet spherical screen while watching a film that whisks you away on an exhilarating journey across Iceland. Special effects, including wind, mist and scents, combine with the ride’s motion to create an unforgettable experience.

The Golden Circle Tour

  • The Golden Circle

Your Golden Circle experience will have you treading in the footsteps of the Vikings at Thingvellir National park. You’ll walk through gorges being torn apart as the tectonic plates move away from each other and visit the famous Öxarárfoss Waterfall (Axe River Falls.). Iceland’s history is intertwined with this site, and the birthplace of the longest running Parliament in the world. You’ll visit the renowned Geysir geothermal area where you’ll walk the path through boiling ground, but be on your guard as the legendary hot spring Strokkur will erupt when you least expect it. Your third stop will be at the majestic waterfall Gullfoss, widely considered to be one of the most beautiful in the world. The Golden Circle is Iceland’s most popular day tour, and for good reason. Lunch will be served at the world famous Friðheimar Organic Tomato Farm where you’ll enjoy a unique farm to table experience inside the Farm’s Greenhouse.

Sky Lagoon

  • Sky Lagoon

Immerse yourself in warmth at our oceanside geothermal lagoon, as the dramatic North Atlantic Ocean stretches out before you. Feel yourself relax and unwind as you take in the dazzling sunsets and moody skies. Then, take your relaxation deeper with the Ritual, a unique seven-step experience.

Blik Bistro & Grill is an elegant restaurant and banquet hall with a unique view of the golf course in Mosfellsbær. The perfect place for all gourmets, from light dishes to burgers and delicious steaks. The tranquility and the majestic panorama views from both the terrace and inside the restaurant boost the enjoyment of the cuisine prepared by a master chef.

Idnó Haus

  • Idnó Haus

IÐNÓ is a place of curiosity. An attractive, and inspiring place for ideas and stories. The building combines in one place history, tradition, and culture, dating all the way back to the year 1897 when it started out as a theater. IÐNÓ is a living monument of older and simpler times, all the while being a modern rendezvous for people of all classes and ages.

Gamla bíó

  • Gamla Bíó

Gamla Bíó means ‘Old Movie Theatre’ in Icelandic, and in fact, it was first built and used as the original silent movie theater town before World War II. Gamla Bíó is one of the most significant buildings in Reykjavík from the period of concrete classics and one of Einar Erlendsson’s most important works from an artistic point of view. The façade of the building and the public space have been preserved in their original form, although the presentation of the hall has changed somewhat over the years.
With extensive construction in the years 2014-2016, all facilities in the building were greatly improved so now Gamla Bíó can establish itself among the leading event halls in Iceland and all Icelanders and their guests can enjoy this historic and beautiful building in the heart of the city center for years to come.

Harpa Center

  • Harpa Center

Harpa is one of Reykjavík’s most striking landmarks and a centre of cultural and social life in the very heart of the city. It is a tourist destination and an award-winning work of art that has been visited by millions of people since opening in 2011. Harpa is also home to the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Icelandic Opera and Reykjavík Big Band, which hold regular concerts throughout the year. Múlinn Jazz club also resides in Harpa as well as the Classical Sundays Series, both offering concerts on a regular basis. Numerous music festivals have been held in Harpa since the house opened in 2011 and world-famous bands, soloists, dance groups and theatre companies have performed here.
